Blind-Spot Monitors are Becoming More Standard

Technology is becoming more important in our daily lives, including in our daily drives. Many high-tech safety features are available, or even standard, on vehicles. Several of the models that we have here at West Herr Chrysler Jeep Orchard Park in Orchard Park, NY come with blind-spot monitoring systems.

A blind-spot monitor is able to detect the presence of another vehicle in your blind spot. This area is not visible from any of your mirrors, and many accidents have occurred because people have inadvertently hit other vehicles while changing lanes.

The blind-spot monitor works through the use of sensors embedded on the sides of a vehicle. When a car is present, a light will turn on to keep you aware. Typically, this light is built into the side mirror. In some vehicles, the light will only turn on if your turn signal is also on. In addition to the light, certain systems will warn you through beeping and briefly vibrating your steering wheel.
